At the 2023 General Assembly, a resolution was passed to review the costs and format of the Assembly to make it more accessible and affordable. A task group was formed to explore:
The purpose and function of General Assembly.
Potential formats, including in-person, electronic, and hybrid models.
Frequency, locations, and environmental impacts.
Representation, diversity, and commissioner selection processes.
Costs, resource efficiency, and funding options.
Decision-making and reporting processes.
The task group is consulting widely and seeking input to ensure the Assembly remains effective, inclusive, and sustainable.
A draft proposal has been developed by the task group, and we are actively seeking feedback from across the Church. Your insights and suggestions will help shape the final proposal, which will be presented at General Assembly 2025.
