9/18/2026 – Recognizing Data #DataIsUseful
Students make a copy of today's starter and complete as instructed. They add it to Term 1 Starters and Notes.
Students participate in a couple of different Wayground review quizzes to review how to read graphs and charts and scientific measurements.
Students then take a Canvas quiz on Rocket data from the other 7th grade classes.
9/16/2026 –Hot Wheels Graphing #TheRaceIsOn
Students make a copy of today's starter and complete as instructed. They add it to Term 1 Starters and Notes.
Students use this Google Sheet to collect data and graph the data on how the height of a Hot Wheel's track influences the time it takes to move a Hot Wheels car down the track.
The following data was collected by one group and is provided to help those who were absent complete the graphing of height vs. time. Those doing this make-up do not need to graph the mass vs. time.
Students make a copy of today's starter, and respond to both prompts and add this copy to Term 1 Starters and Notes of their digital science notebook.
B5 Students then collaborate as a class to complete a Mission.io task. Gravity’s role in space
This is the last planned class period to work on rockets designs in Tinkercad – Remember to sign in using your class link below.
Important Reminders:
§ Add guides (holes) to help your rocket fly straight.
§ Leave enough space for the engine.
§ There are no reprints—check your design carefully!
§ You need a secure way to keep the engine from falling out.
Engine Specifications:
§ Engine diameter: 12.5 mm
§ Engine length: 44 mm
§ Engine mass: 6.5 g
§ Launch pole diameter: 3.5 mm
Rocket Limits:
§ Maximum rocket height: 120 mm (recommended: less than this)
§ Maximum rocket base: 100 mm × 100 mm (recommended: less than this)
§ Recommended total rocket mass: less than 50 g (≈7.5 times heavier than the engine)
Collaboration & Creativity:
§ Each group should work together on a single rocket design (not individual rockets).
Remember: Your design must be original—do not copy an existing rocket model.
If there is time, the class will watch a short video about 3D printing.
Students make a copy of today's starter, and respond to both prompts and add this copy to Term 1 Starters and Notes of their digital science notebook.
We are continuing to work on our rockets in Tinkercad - sign in using your class link below.

NOTE: There may be a short amount of time next class to finish your group's design. I cannot guarantee additional time after that date.
Students make a copy of today's starter, and respond to both prompts and add this copy to Term 1 Starters and Notes of their digital science notebook.
Students watch a short YouTube video about building a race boat and discuss what might change the outcome.
Students then watch a second YouTube video about hydroplanes and discuss observations.
Students are asked to:
Check for any comments from me on the Canvas assignment "Newton's first and second laws"
If I made any comments about an incomplete assignment, students are to finish and resubmit the assignment.
Check their individual score on the Canvas quiz "7.1.1 - Newton's 1st and 2nd laws"
Those who scored below 80% on this quiz are to retake and submit take the Canvas quiz "Newton's 1st and 2nd laws" until they score 80% or higher.
I highly recommend every student should retake the quiz until they score 100% because it will be added to Skyward grades!
Students may then collaborate with their group to create a possible 3D model rocket (this will be modified during later class periods.)
Reminders:
Add guides (holes) to help your rocket fly straight off the guide pole.
Leave more space for the engine than you think you need!
Each group may only have one print !—check your design carefully!
You need to plan a secure way to keep the engine from falling out.

Students make a copy of today's starter, and respond to both prompts and add this copy to Term 1 Starters and Notes of their digital science notebook.
Students read the Canvas assignment "Newtons First and Second Laws" and submit their answers after the reading.
Students are to take a screenshot of their answers and put it into Term 1 Evidence of their Digital Science Notebook.
Students then and submit take the Canvas quiz "Newton's 1st and 2nd laws.
Students may then collaborate with their group to create a possible 3D model rocket (this will be modified during later class periods.)
Students make a copy of today's starter, and respond to both prompts and add this copy to Term 1 Starters and Notes of their digital science notebook.
Students watch a YouTube video about the results of crashes and discuss what might change the outcomes.
Students then collaborate with others to complete the Canvas "Single Pringle Challenge." Remember to use your Chromebook to take and submit the required photo for this assignment!
Students make a copy of today's starter, and respond to both prompts and add this copy to Term 1 Starters and Notes of their digital science notebook.
Students are instructed on how to get into groups for today's activity
Those without the signed Tinkercad permission slip will be given an alternate assignment to complete.
Students are to collaborate with their group to create a specific GROUP 3D model as instructed by Mr. Westbroek.
Students are to use Tinkercad to create this design.
The group needs to share and collaborate on their project.
NOTES:
The model cannot be solid!
The model must be made by combing different shapes
The model must be less than 100 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm
HINT Find other groups who solved challenges of using Tinkercad by asking something like this "Who has solved how to do this ..."
Remember you are in an exploration in Tinkercad
When you have completed your design, ask Mr. W. to explain the instructions on how to email your 3D model to him gwestbroek@alpinedistrict.org
NOTE: The file MUST be sent as a grouped .stl file
Students who finish early should go into Canvas and ensure they successfully completed and submitted the "But is it good evidence" assignment.
8/26/2026 - Introducing 7th grade ALL science & using Google Sites to create their individual Science Digital Notebook #GoinDigital
