As you talk with Tituba, you discover that she is a slave who belonged to the Parris family. She was from South America and she was captured and sold into slavery as a child. She was between 12 and 17 years old when she was sold to Samuel Parris. Tituba married another slave named John in 1689 and this was about the same time that she and the Parris family moved to Salem. Tituba became involved in the witch investigation when she created a “witchcake” in an attempt to identify who had “bewitched” Elizabeth Parris. Tituba surprised you by telling you that she confessed to being a witch. You asked her why she would do this and she described how she was beaten by Reverend Parris until she confessed to being a witch.
In her confession, Tituba apologized for hurting Elizabeth. She also explained how much she cared for Elizabeth. Tituba went on to describe the actions of the other witches in Salem and she identified Sarah Good and Sarah Osborne as witches. They haven't been too happy with her because of that.
