River Rock Elementary is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment while protecting students both in person and online. Because personal electronic devices are not protected by the district's internet filters and can interfere with learning, students are expected to keep all personal smart devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and similar devices—turned off and stored in their backpacks throughout the school day.
Personal devices may not be used during school hours unless specifically authorized by school personnel for instructional purposes, an approved accommodation, or an emergency. Electronic devices may never be used in a manner that threatens, harasses, intimidates, embarrasses, or invades the privacy of another person. Misuse of technology, including cyberbullying, will be addressed in accordance withAlpine School District policy.
Parents and guardians who need to communicate with their child during the school day should contact the school office rather than the student's personal device.
Students who do not follow these expectations may lose the privilege of bringing personal electronic devices to school. Devices may also be confiscated in accordance with school procedures.
