Welcome to Computers!
Computers is more than just keyboarding, gaming or programming. We will learn to be problem solvers, creators and technology wizards! We will follow the Alpine School District Technology Curriculum.
The Alpine School District Technology Curriculum is divided into four curriculum strands.* Students should be able to show basic competency in each of these areas by the end of their grade school years.
Alpine School District Navigating Technology
1- Digital Citizenship
*Safety, Privacy, Digital Presence, Responsibility, Online Etiquette, Cyberbullying, Ethical use of AI
2- Foundational Technology Skills
*Keyboarding Skills, Hardware/Software, File Management - IT basics, Website Navigation,
Research, Using Technology to Communicate
3- Computer Science
*Algorithm, Coding, Sequencing, Debugging, Loop, Event
Create programs, Communicate Ideas, Careers
4- Creativity and Innovation
*Technology in the Design Process, Create Original Works
*All classroom activities will be adjusted appropriately to meet the needs and abilities found in each grade level and geared toward a variety of learning styles.
We use a variety of apps to learn different skills. Most of these apps do not collect data and are used to increase skill such as, Owlieboo, PBS Kids and ABCYA. We also use Tinkercad for 3D printing. Tinkercad does require parent permission and is only used for 4th and 6th grades.
