Life Lessons from Ms. DJ
Job Interviews
Make sure you have questions to ask at the end of the interview!
Answer questions with more than a yes or no. Let them see you!
Don't offer too much personal information.
Be professional. Don't be overly emotional. (Says the woman who cries in every interview when they ask why I want to teach.)
Cover Letters Broken Down
Random Bits of Wisdom
Never pack bleach when you are moving. It is cheap to replace! It can also damage everything you are moving. Don't bring the bleach.
Learn to type. The keyboard isn't going to disappear. Your life will be easier if you can get your thoughts typed faster.
When you are being treated to dinner, make sure you talk with your host.
When you are at a dinner party, make sure everyone has a chance to talk. Don't dominate the discussion. Reach out to the quiet ones and ask for their input or opinion.
Connect with everyone. Look people in the eyes, even the guy at the drive through. See them. It will change the world.
Parenting
Read to your children--even if you think you are a terrible reader. They won't know if you are good or bad. They will just love the time with you. Plus, it will help them become good readers. Read with them until they move out of your home. Read with them every day. It will change their lives and your own.
