Parents,
Here are some ideas to make reading a fun and enjoyable part of your daily routine! Here's how you can help:
If you have concerns about your child's reading, and would like addition support to work with them at home, please send me an email. I can send research based interventions and information to practice specific skills based on their reading level. This can be used towards their 20 minutes of reading each night.
Let them choose. Encourage your child to read for pleasure by letting them pick books they genuinely find interesting, whether it's a graphic novel, a non-fiction book about their favorite animal, or a comic.
Read together. Even if your child can read independently, continue to read aloud with them. This is a great way to build their vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
Make it a habit. Set aside a regular, cozy time and place for reading each day. You can read your own book at the same time to show them that reading is a valuable and relaxing activity.
Explore the library. Regular trips to the local library can help them discover new authors and genres, showing them that the world of books is full of endless possibilities.
