Disclosure Documents & Notes

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to start this new school year with you and your children. We have a lot of new changes happening in the 6th grade.

  • Standards based grading
    • Standards based grading means that students no longer receive letter grades, but instead a grade of 1-4 based on their mastery of each of the graded standards.
      • NA: not assessed during this reporting period
      • 1: Student is well below grade level
      • 2: Student is below grade level
      • 3: Student is at grade level
      • 4: Student demonstrates early mastery
  • Homework
    • We will no longer be assigning homework. We would like to shift student mindsets from homework being a grade to being acquiring knowledge. In preparation for going to Junior High, we want students to become more aware of time management and finishing assignments that are given. Homework will consist of completion of assignments not finished in class, and extra practice as needed.
  • 6th Grade Website
    • We have a website for the entire 6th grade. It will include upcoming events, links for math help videos, test taking strategies, and other helpful information and links.

  • Dispositions
    • We have 10 behavior skills we are expecting our students to follow
      • Make eye contact; show respect; show appreciation; honor other’s comments, opinions, and ideas; transition swiftly, quietly, and orderly; be organized; clean up after yourself; during an assembly, be a good audience; maintain proper line etiquette; learn from your mistakes
    • Their behavior in these areas will be reflected in their learning habits grades.
  • Graduation
    • We are changing our location for 6th grade graduation. We are upgrading and taking it to Skyridge High School.
  • Internet Disclosure
    • In order for your student to use the Internet as well as certain apps that we use, you will need to go onto Skyward and approve their Internet usage document. If you are unsure how to do this, the office would be happy to help. We will be using these apps/websites this year: Utah Compose, MasteryConnect, Sage, Kahn Academy, Google Classroom, Google Drive, Prodigy
  • Donations
    • You may donate items to your student’s classroom. If you would like to make a monetary donation you can fill out a form or click the “donate” button on the school website
