This week in library! We are learning about author and illustrator, Matt Tavares. I have met him and the way he creates art and picture books is facinating! He is a HUGE baseball fan and I think he might love the Christmas season almost as much. He live with his wife in Portland, Maine.
Mr. Tavares has "draw with him" videos on his website. Here is a video where he teaches us to draw a bird from "Red & Lulu". If you love to draw, he is an incredible artist and teacher!
Scroll through to see some of the books Matt Tavares has written and illustrated. He has written and or illustrated more than 20 books. Tavares is a perfect author to study during the holidays because of his beautiful "Dasher" series.

I am reading a Beehive book! I think Gordon Korman has been nominated for a Beehive award several years in a row now and it is well deserved. I am reading "Faker". I went into this book without reading a summary or knowing what it was about. It surprised me when the story's main character has a dad who is a con artist. AND the dad isn't even sorry for the things he does! What?! The narator is Trey, the son of this con artist. It is an interesting perspective. I am very curious how this one will end!
