Join us for another great year of reading and competing in America's Battle of the Books. This is a voluntary reading program for students in 3-6 grades. All students need to do is register and then start reading the books. The list of books will be available here, and on bookmarks in the library.
There are 20 books on each grade level list: 3-4 and 5-6. Students do NOT need to read EVERY book on the list, however, they are required to read 5 books to be on a team.
Families are encouraged to read books together with their children. Family reading times are moments that stick.
Interested students will be part of a team and read as many books as possible from the book list for their grade. In February, teams will come together for a tournament where they will work as a team to answer questions about the books from the list.
Teams will be formed in October. All grade level teams will have 5 members. 3/4 grade teams will be formed by the teachers. 5/6 grades have the option to form their own teams with friends from other classes within their grade. Students need to understand the commitment they make to their team members. We ask that you discuss what it means to be part of a team with your student. If your student signs up for Battle of the Books, we ask that they commit to sticking to it for the school year.
BoB Reviews - Each time a book is read from the BoB reading list, a review needs to be submitted. A book is not considered read until the review has been submitted.
For each book read (and reviewed) students earn a sticker of that book. For every 5 books read, the student will get to choose a prize from the library. (Max - 4 prizes) If you do read ALL 20 books, you will win a lanyard with all 20 buttons/pins!
Lunch Recess in the Library - One Monday a month competitors can come to the library during lunch recess to have team check-ins with Mrs. Call. We will talk about the books, ask practice questions, and you will be able to ask any questions you might have. PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND EVERY MONTH (starting in November).
Competition Dates will be released soon! The 5/6 grade champions of Bonneville Elementary will compete at the District Level on Saturday Mar. 28
DEADLINES: Students interested in participating must be registered no later than Wed, Oct. 15.
Volunteers: We love and need volunteers to run battles in Feb. If you can help, please provide contact info
