Your team's task is to examine six paintings depicting the American West. As you examine these paintings, you are going to identify details in each painting that help you understand the artists' point-of-view. You will also decide what you think the artist is trying to show as well as whether or not the painting is an accurate representation of the American West.

First, each member of your group will view and analyze the six paintings individually. Each member of your group will then become an expert on two of the paintings. You will then each share the background information you have learned with your group. You will each then indicate how your understanding of each painting changed after learning more about the background.
