Grades: If your question is about grades, I encourage you to have your child contact me directly whenever possible. They may come in before or after school or during our flex time to do so. Some kids don't have a problem with this and others are terrified of speaking with adults. Those in the latter part of the scale should especially practice talking to teachers as they will find no more caring and encouraging environment than here at Lehi Jr in which to practice self-advocacy. Self advocacy, the counselors tell us, is one of the top qualities determining success in High School and beyond. Parents, of course, are also welcome to double check on grade questions, but please encourage your child to communicate on their own whenever possible as well.
For all other questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. I welcome all questions as well as suggestions given in the best interest of students or those assisting kids in becoming well educated adults. There are multiple ways to contact me:
Email: bshelley@alpinedistrict.org If you have not received a reply within 2 school days, please contact me again. Occasionally an email slips through the cracks and gets buried before I respond to it.
Phone: 801-610-8754 ext 132 (I may answer during class time, but you are welcome to leave a message and I will get back to you within in a few days)
In Person: I am at school by at 7:45 am at the latest and stay until at least 3:15 pm in the afternoon unless I have a meeting or am otherwise absent. I am usually in my classroom, but if you want to be sure that I won't be in a meeting, please let me know when you plan to come via phone or email. Thanks!
