LMS & UMS
In this unit, students constructed a board game from scratch. They worked in small groups to create their game, and design their game board pieces in Tinkercad. This was an introductory lesson into Tinkercad for students to familiarize themselves with the design program. Students worked on adjusting game piece sizes and ensure properly layering for successful printing.
In this unit, students constructed a 3D printed model of a Mars Rover. Students learned about how the Curiosity Mars Rover works, and what has been explored from the planet Mars. Students worked diligently to successfully build their rover from 3d printed pieces.
In this unit UMS students paired up with pre-school students to bring their designs to life! Pre-schoolers were learning about shapes, and the 7th & 8th graders designed their chosen shape into a container that can be used in their classroom.
"Before this class, I didn’t know the process of 3d printing. Now, I not only know the process, but I have experience in creating 3d prints. I enjoyed meeting with the preschoolers and making prints for them. They’re so cute! This process can help us advance our inventions and come up with new machines and technology!"
"I learned that 3d printing is really useful in the world. You can use 3d printing to make objects that can also be used for basic necessities. You can also use it to make space objects like a solar system. Fun fact people are trying to make a house made out of 3d printing."
"3D printing is useful/helpful because it can print resources and objects for us to use in the world. Like 3D printing houses, cars, and food, 3Dprinters are changing how we do things in the world."
"I enjoyed creating new designs for preschool that they can use. 3D printing can help create things without using as much materials. 3D printing can also create things that cost less than other methods."
"I enjoyed accomplishing great projects with my friends and making containers for the pre-k kids. 3D printing can help the environment. It also is a cheaper option to make things. This could solve the cost of making big things and it can also help society advance in life."
"You can use 3D printing for so many things, such as education, medical uses, and so much more. I enjoyed making customized containers for the preschoolers to help them with their organization skills in the classroom. This was exciting and fun to do because we got to help out around the school and teach the preschoolers all about 3D printing and everything they can create with a 3D printer."
