Well done to our year 4 football team who took part in regional tournament. Most of our team have very little football experience and played against some much larger schools who clearly had some very experienced players. The whole performed brilliantly, improving with each game. They never stopped running, tackling and working hard for each other. This chance to compete, I hope, will lead them on to better things as they get older.
This year the girls showed massive improvements on last years performance. They were competitive in all games, winning 3 and scoring a hat-full of goals along the way. Their commitment and work-rate throughout was exceptional and they were a true pleasure to coach. Well done girls.
The Multi-Skills festival saw 10 Year 2 children take part in many different activities to test their athletic abilities. They performed really well and put in maximum effort all afternoon. In charge of the team were 2 members of 'Sports Squad' who did Mr Chambers job for him while he had a cup and watched!
On Wednesday the 21st we went to Manor school where we saw a lot of teams. We competed really well we won 9 out of 12 races (including Mr Chambers winning the teachers race). Mr Chambers was really proud of us. BEST COMPETITION EVER!
This year we took a big team to the district cross country and Croyland Park. In previous years we have struggled to match some of the other schools in the area but this year was different. Many of our team were regular 'Daily Mile' & 'Running Club' runners and that little bit of practice really paid off. The team moved from a disappointing 25th place last year to a spot within the 10 this year, with several of our runners finishing inside the top 5 or top 10 in their individual races. A brilliant, if cold, morning!
We took 2 teams to the Kwik Cricket tournament, a Girls team and a Mixed team. Both teams showed real skill on the day and played amazingly well. With some big hit and fast bowling the girls team finished in 5th place. The mixed team however had an even better day. Unbeaten in the morning they qualified for the Finals in the afternoon. Playing some tough cricket they finished 3rd overall and qualified for the county finals.
On a bitterly cold evening we went to Sir Christopher Hatton School for the Netball Tournament, with our resident expert, Miss Cheetham! The children, who had been attending netball club for several weeks and knew the rules, at times were frustrated with the relaxation of some rules. They played on though with real spirit and determination finishing the evening with 2 really good wins.
