Instructor Biography
David describes himself as an old school storyteller, having written and recorded over 1600 stories for Sparkle Stories and other platforms. He works extensively with educators (teachers and school leaders) to teach transformational storytelling tools and strategies that empower and inspire. He has taught hundreds of courses, been the keynote of dozens of national conferences, and shared these tools with people across the globe. David reminds us that story is part of every human encounter. His work embodies practical wisdom, truth, integrity, and deep empathy.
Jennifer Militzer-Kopperl is on a quest to get up to 95% of students reading fluently in Waldorf schools public and private by bringing the best of both worlds in new and exciting ways. Karen Gierlach attended Waldorf schools in Germany and England. She received her B.A. from London University as well as Waldorf teacher training at Emerson College in England. Once her two children were old enough, she spent over 20 years teaching German and working in administration in U.S. Waldorf schools. Always inspired by the process of human becoming, she studied all she could about human biography and started attending and assisting in biography workshops many years ago. Now she facilitates workshops, both in the U.S. and overseas. She presents an overview of the Lifecycles to the 2nd year students at BACWTT and engages them in artistic, interactive exercises to help strengthen their self-awareness, as well as deepen their appreciation for how other people and events shape all our lives. Karen serves on the Board of the Center for Biography and Social Art.
Becky Taylor has been working with children and families for over 20 years. She is a therapist, educator, and founder of a homeschool Co-op in San Antonio, Texas. She is currently working on her master’s in Transdisciplinary healing education and a certification in art therapy with Kairos. She is actively involved in her community, organizing festivals and teaching storytelling and art classes for children and families. She also teaches children for How to Story courses. Becky is certified in Restorative Storytelling.
Delana Hill is the Principal at Seaside Charter School North Campus in Jacksonville, Florida. Serving over 300 diverse students at North Campus, Ms. Hill's goal is to integrate the Waldorf-Inspired philosophy and a standards-based curriculum to create equitable outcomes for all students.
A critical thinker, Ms. Hill feels confined by the ways of traditional education and works to bring her passion for life to the students, families, and staff to inspire them to push forth into the world with empathetic hearts and critical minds in order to make positive change for our future.
Ms. Hill has teaching experience in grades 1 - 8 in Waldorf-Inspired settings in Louisville, Kentucky, and Oakland, California. Prior to becoming Principal, she served as Director of Curriculum at Community School for Creative Education in Oakland and Seaside Charter Consortium in Jacksonville. She has also worked as a teacher coach, Summer School Principal through Building Educated Leaders for Life, and Director of Special Education.
Chris joined Sebastopol Charter in 2013. Prior to arriving, Chris served as the Lower School Coordinator at Summerfield Waldorf School, an administrative role that he stepped into after 15 years of teaching which included teaching a class grades 6-8 and another class grades 1-8. He began his teaching career as a Waldorf class teacher at Novato Charter School when the school was founded in 1996 and where he taught a class 4th to 8th grade. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Pepperdine University, Master of Arts in Education Leadership from Sonoma State University, a California Public School Teaching Credential from Dominican University, Waldorf Education Teaching Credential from Rudolf Steiner College and an Education Administration Services Credential from Sonoma State University..
Anna Rainville
Anna has lifted spirits with singing games and group harmony for decades. An experienced Waldorf educator, she travels widely to mentor and teach. She is the author of Singing Games for Families, Schools, and Communities.
Thesa Callinicos is a career Waldorf Teacher of 45 years. She has worked in, Honolulu, Boulder, Denver, and Paonia. She guided classes from 1st through 6th grade twice, and 1st through 8th grade twice. She has also taught painting, drawing and clay modeling as well as handwork, to all ages. Jennifer is a professional fiber artist, flutist, aromatherapist, herbalist, event planner and educator. She has been a teacher, gifted and talented facilitator, principal, and organizational leader. Jennifer has homeschooled her own four children. She consults in the areas of Waldorf curriculum, homeschooling, handwork and music, and is co-owner of Syrendell.

Rick is a professional artist, harpist, pianist, feng shui consultant, event planner, and educator. He has taught at two Waldorf schools, and has been a K-12 public school teacher, gifted and talented facilitator, and school artist-in-residence. Rick has homeschooled his own four children. He consults in the areas of Waldorf curriculum, school design, homeschooling, art, and music, and is co-owner of Syrendell.
Armida Cervantez is of O’odham and Xicana descent. She was born into stories and believes they are important in guidance and surrender in life’s journey.
Joia Wood is a certified Restorative Storyteller and teacher trainer, creative mindfulness facilitator, and VITA coach specializing in life transitions and self-empowerment. She is also a celebrated vocalist, multi-faceted artist, and educator with over 30 years of experience working with children and families. Her approach is trauma-informed and spectrum-celebratory.
