We are a member of the UK Men's Sheds Association and a registered charity.
The group is run entirely by volunteers and the trustees manage the formal aspects of the organisation.
There are currently about 12 members who attend weekly and our membership is expected to grow to 30 over the first year of full operation. Our existing members have skills in woodworking and are willing to share their skills and experience.
All equipment used at the shed is maintained and members are required to use appropriate personal safety equipment (PPE). Training is provided by skilled members.
New members over 18 years of age are welcome, regardless of skill or knowledge.
You are welcome to come along to have a look at what we do, just turn up and ask for the session leader when we're open.
There is an application form available on the forms page of this website if you wish to join.
A friendly environment to meet others with shared interests. We've always a brew and biscuits available and you're welcome to just come and chat.
Various woodworking tools are made available to use your existing expertise or to learn new skills. Though this is entirely optional.
The Shed is open to everyone aged 18 or over and is targeted at the Thornton and Allerton areas.
Following the success and interest in our Shed we are starting to prepare our permanent home at the Lower Ground, St Peter's Church, Allerton.
We have a number of members volunteering to help with the preparations and building work benches and installing equipment, etc.
We've quite a few items of woodworking type equipment that have been donated.
If you'd like to meet us and chat about anything, then please just turn-up at one of our sessions (see the Events page) or email us on the link at the foot of this page.
We are well into our journey and setting up this Men's Shed in the centre of Allerton.
We will be providing facilities for woodworking initially, but may expand our capabilities in the future based on the interests and skills of our members. Indeed there has already been an interest expressed in cycle repair and maintenance, so that's no doubt come in the near future!
