To be eligible for a driver’s permit and license in Kentucky, a student has to adhere to the No Pass / No Pass Law set forth for students aged 16 and 17 years old. KRS 159.051 (“No Pass/No Drive”) results in the denial or revocation of a student’s driver’s license for 1.) academic deficiency, or 2.) dropping out of school or excessive unexcused absences. Academic deficiency is defined as a student who does not have passing grades in at least 66% of the courses at ACSHS in the preceding semester. A student is deemed to have dropped out of school or has excessive absences when he/she has nine or more unexcused absences at any point during the current school year. Any absences due to suspension shall be unexcused absences.
