The Competitive B Squad is for swimmers who have developed solid foundational skills and a strong desire for competitive swimming. These athletes are progressing in their technique, building stamina, and gaining valuable race experience. They participate in a range of competitive events, including school-based championships and selected club meets, with the goal of improving their personal best times and advancing towards state qualification. This squad emphasizes consistent training, mental toughness, and a deeper understanding of competitive swimming principles.
The Developmental C Squad is designed for swimmers who are building their competitive skills and foundational swimming techniques. This squad focuses on improving stroke efficiency, developing stronger endurance, and introducing basic racing concepts in a supportive and encouraging environment. Swimmers in this squad are actively preparing for entry into more competitive events and are encouraged to participate in friendly meets and novice competitions to gain confidence and experience. The emphasis is on skill acquisition, building swim fitness, and fostering a passion for the sport.
The Recreational D Squad provides an introduction to structured swimming and gentle competitive exposure for our newest swimmers of different age groups. The primary focus is on developing water confidence, fundamental swimming strokes, and basic aquatic literacy in a fun and engaging atmosphere. While participation in friendly school events and novice meets is encouraged, the main goal is to ensure a positive experience with swimming, build a healthy relationship with the water, and prepare swimmers for potential progression into more structured developmental squads.
Placement and progression within the swimming squads are determined through a comprehensive and ongoing assessment process by the coaching team. While general squad descriptions outline the typical profile of swimmers at each level, a swimmer's specific placement and any potential movement between squads are based on a multi-faceted evaluation of the following criteria:
Time Trial Performance: Swimmers' results in internal time trials conducted throughout the year.
Training Attitude: Demonstration of discipline, focus, effort, coachability, and overall commitment during all scheduled training sessions.
Attendance: Consistent presence at scheduled training sessions, reflecting dedication to their development.
Meet Results (Time-Based): Performance in official swim meets (both school-based and club-based), specifically focusing on individual event times and consistent improvement.
These criteria are applied rigorously and holistically to ensure appropriate placement that supports each swimmer's development, safety, and long-term enjoyment of the sport. The coaching team will communicate any changes in squad placement directly with swimmers and parents.
