The Workshop runs from Saturday 27 December, 9am Registration, 9:30-5pm & Sunday 28 & Monday 29 December, 9:30-5pm, with registration from 9am on Saturday 28 December. The full schedule will be given to you at registration on Saturday morning. Please keep an eye on the noticeboard in the foyer for any updates.
The workshop will be held at The Alice Smith School Primary Campus, Jalan Bellamy, Kuala Lumpur. Please arrive at the Jalan Kerayong entrance. There is parking available opposite the main guardhouse at Gate 4. Please register at the guardhouse and you will be given a lanyard to enter the school premises. Then follow the signage towards the School Hall. All workshop sessions will be held in the School Hall and surrounding areas.
Break time refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided each day. Grab deliveries can be made to school.
Please come to the workshop in comfortable, loose clothing, to enable you to move freely. Most of the movement work is done in bare feet, and some work may be done on the floor. You may prefer to bring appropriate non-slip dancewear if you wish. It is advisable to bring a sweater or shawl because the a/c can feel rather cold. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle, notepad + pen and an instrument (if applicable).
Dalcroze sessions traditionally involve improvisation at a piano. If you are a non-pianist, you may bring your own alternative instrument for the Improvisation sessions. There are various orchestral instruments which can be loaned from Alice Smith Primary Campus if required. Please be in touch with us in advance if you require this. A small number of practice rooms can also be made available for use during the workshop.
We hope that you will have an enjoyable time at the workshop and at Alice Smith Primary Campus. We have taken all possible precautions to ensure your safety and well-being. Please take note of the following:
Keep all of your personal possessions and valuables with you at all times.
If you have any physical injuries (not already indicated on the registration form) that may affect your ability to participate in movement activities, please let one of the organisers know.
Rhythmics classes will have an appropriate warm up and cool down. Do try to avoid missing the start of these sessions or leaving early. Move within your personal capacity; do not try to over-exert yourself in any way that may cause an injury. In the event of any minor injury, or if you are feeling unwell, the organisers will assist you with access to first aid.
For safety reasons, any loose accessories or lanyards should be removed during Rhythmics sessions.
There are no planned emergency drills during the duration of the workshop. In the event of an alarm, please evacuate the building via the fire exits indicated as quickly as possible to the playing field. Do not return for your belongings.
The workshop sessions may NOT be recorded in any form, unless prior permission is given by the instructors. However, the organisers may be photographing some sessions for use in future promotional materials. If you do not consent to your photo being taken, kindly state this to the organisers.
At the end of the workshop you will receive a Certificate of Participation. Please note this does not represent a Dalcroze qualification, but it is an acknowledgement of the hours you have attended at the workshop.
If you are a Foundation, Intermediate or Certificate exam candidate, you will be sent the exam timetable prior to the workshop. Printed versions of the timetable will be displayed during the workshop. There will be limited numbers of practice rooms available for booking. A link for online booking of the rooms will be provided when you arrive on the first day (Sat 27 December). Practice rooms are located in the Music Department (please see the workshop organisers for directions to these). There will be no practice rooms available for use after the workshop sessions end.
