Students participating in Aesd Online courses are required to adhere to the same attendance requirements as non-online students. Students are not permitted to miss in-person instruction at the school site while taking an online course, unless excused by their parent/guardian.
Students enrolled in Aesd Online courses will be given specific instructions from their teachers related to which assignments they are able to accelerate and submit on their own timeline. Students will also be given parameters as to how far ahead they are able to work in each course, at any given time in a unit or lesson.
AesdOnline students are required to submit assignments by the due dates outlined in their course syllabus.
Students may view their grades within the course homepage, in StudentVue . Parents may view grades in Synergy, through ParentVue.
All students participating in AesdOnline will take an introductory course, which will inform them on the processes for checking grades.
The following secure modes of electronic communication will be made available to students participating in an online course. The districts security filter, Securly, filters are electronic communication and will generate an alert to district and site leadership when suspicious communication is found :
Cisco Webex: Webex will be utilized by students and their instructors to connect electronically in real time, for face to face support and dialogue.
Email: Students and instructors will be provided with a secure district email account and may utilize this account regularly for communication purposes.
Chat Room and Discussion Forums: Throughout online coursework, students will post questions, comments, and feedback to peers and instructors through the chat room and discussion forum features, found on the Moodle platform.
The State of Arizona requires all full-time or part-time online students to participate in mandatory state testing.
AesdOnline often provides external links and resources to benefit the students. Although these links are checked for content and quality through the districts security filter, Securly, AESD neither support nor endorse any of these sites, and is not responsible for their content in any way.
Academic integrity means that the work you submit is your original work. There are two types of violations of academic integrity:
Plagiarism - to take and use ideas and words of another without giving credit to the original author (source).
Cheating - examples are - to provide answers/work to another student or receive answers/work from answers/work
As stated in the AESD Parent/Student Handbook, any form of deception, including but not limited to, the use of notes, text messaging, social media, obtaining answers ahead of time or sharing information with other students is cheating. All student work presented for credit shall be the original work of that student. Taking someone else's work and passing it off as one's own is plagiarism. Any student involved in academic cheating/plagiarism shall be subject to disciplinary action.
