As we come to the end of another memorable school year, I want to take a moment to thank every child, family and member of staff for making this such a special and successful year at Alexandra.
Thank you to our wonderful staff for their dedication and to our families for your continued support and encouragement. I am incredibly proud of our school community and the effort, curiosity and positivity our students have shown throughout the year.
This year has brought many highlights – from academic achievements and creative performances to exciting trips, sports days and community events. All of which have been shared in our Alexandra school newsletters.
A particular mention must go to our Year 6 pupils, who are now preparing to take their next steps into secondary school. Many have taken leadership roles across the school and been role models for our younger children. All have approached the final year at Primary School with growing maturity and enthusiasm. We will miss you greatly, but we know you are ready for the exciting journey ahead. Remember, you carry a part of Alexandra with you – and our values – wherever you go.
A reminder that learning continues until Tuesday 22nd July when the Summer term comes to an end at 1.30pm. Wishing you all a restful, fun and safe summer break when it arrives. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on the 3rd September.
Our Nursery children delighted us during their end-of-year celebration assemblies! With Mr Ken leading the fun, they entertained families and staff with music, songs, and lively actions – including a fantastic performance of "Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!"
Each child proudly received a certificate to celebrate their hard work, progress, and achievements this year.
Well done to all our Nursery children and our wonderful Nursery staff!
Year 2's Geography topic this term has been 'Do you like to be beside the seaside?'. As part of this, we have been learning about the seaside and how to take care of it. So, last Wednesday, we all headed off on a big coach to visit Southend on Sea. Despite the weather, we all had a marvellous time.
Thank you to the Year 2 team and our parent volunteers for making this day truly special.
How good it is to be beside the sea!
As part of their Geography and Design Technology (DT) learning, Year 4 had fun exploring volcanoes. They created impressive models using cardboard, newspaper, masking tape, and paint building them in the playground and decorating them in the classroom. The finished volcanoes looked stunning and remarkably realistic.
Next week, once the volcanoes are dry, we’re going to bring them to life by creating lava using vinegar, baking powder, water, food colouring and washing-up liquid it’s going to be an exciting experiment.
Venezuela Class had a fantastic time celebrating Maths Week by exploring the concept of symmetry through art. The students created beautiful, intricate designs on one half of an insect, focusing on the balance and mirror images that symmetry involves.
Using tracing paper, they carefully traced their designs, flipped them along the mirror line, and retraced to complete the other side. The result? Some truly amazing symmetrical insect art that looks absolutely fantastic!
Well done to everyone for their creativity and mathematical skills!
Here’s a sneak peek of our amazing Year 6s working hard on their end-of-year production of Wicked! We are so proud of the effort, energy, and enthusiasm they’ve poured into every rehearsal.
Important Reminder for Year 6 Parents and Carers:
There will be two showings of the performance on Thursday 17th July – one at 2:00pm and another at 6:00pm.
Please ensure your child returns to school by 5:00pm for the evening show.
We can’t wait to see you all there cheering them on!
What a joyful morning we had at the Year 2 Celebration Assembly! Families and staff came together to honour the incredible growth, creativity and hard work of our Year 2 children over the past year.
Children were awarded certificates for embodying our school values—kindness, resilience, curiosity, and responsibility—and for their fantastic progress across the curriculum. including exceptional learning in Art, Science, and Music.
As one child said when sharing they liked about year 2 , “I liked everything!'
A huge thank you to our teachers, support staff, and families for nurturing such a thoughtful and enthusiastic group of children. Year 2, we are so proud of you!
You may have noticed the exciting progress on our Caretaker's House! The old staircase has now been removed and will soon be replaced with a new, wider stairwell and entrance, improving both access and appearance.
We’re looking forward to seeing the developments continue and are excited for the space to be ready for use by the end of September.
Watch this space for more updates!
As we come to the end of the term, Mr Ken and his talented young musicians wowed parents with a fantastic music club showcase! The children demonstrated the skills they’ve been developing this term on the drums, ukuleles, and steel pans. It was a joy to see their confidence and musical talent shine.
Parents then had the chance to join in and learn from their children — and they were brilliant! It was a fun, lively, and memorable session enjoyed by all.
A big thank you to Mr Ken and Ms Barbara for leading such engaging and inspiring music sessions this term.
Over the last two weeks Year 2 Colombia Class have been taking part in a Windrush Wonder Art project. The sessions began with a thoughtful discussion about the Windrush and the importance of memories. Inspired by this, each child created their own piece of abstract art, reflecting personal memories through colour, shape, and texture.
We were proud to exhibit the children’s artwork during our Open Evening this week, where families had the opportunity to view and celebrate their creative efforts. In addition, selected pieces will be displayed at Collage Arts over the summer. More details about this exciting opportunity will be shared soon.
Over the past six weeks, our talented Year 1 Art Club have been busy exploring the wonderful world of paper mâché! Each student created their very own abstract face model, learning to build up their artwork layer by layer using paper mâché techniques.
Once dry, the children brought their faces to life with bold, colourful paint and added extra detail using special highlighting pens to make certain features stand out.
This project encouraged creativity, patience, and imagination, and we’re so proud of the unique and expressive pieces they’ve produced. Each face is a reflection of the artist behind it – no two are the same!
We hope you enjoy this vibrant and exciting display as much as we enjoyed creating it!
This term, the children have had a fantastic time with Mr Smyth, practising their cricket and rounders skills. From batting and bowling to fielding and teamwork, the sessions have been full of energy and enthusiasm. The club has been a great opportunity for children to build confidence, improve coordination, and enjoy playing team sports in a fun and supportive environment.
Well done to all who took part!
Congratulations to Chile Class and Nicaragua Class for winning our recent TTRockstars competition! As a reward for their fantastic times tables efforts, both classes enjoyed a well-deserved treat – ice lollies in the sunshine!
Here are some lovely pictures of our champions celebrating their success. Well done to everyone who took part – keep practising those times tables!
Year 1 have been busy creating their very own T-shirts! Using fabric paint, the children decorated their shirts with unique and colourful designs, each one showing off their creativity and individuality. They’re very proud of their work and can’t wait to wear their T-shirts at their celebration assemblies.
Well done to all our creative designers!
This week, our children had the exciting opportunity to meet their new teachers for the upcoming school year—a milestone that always brings a mix of curiosity, smiles, and a touch of nervous energy! It was heartening to see their enthusiasm as they stepped into their future classrooms, ready to embrace all that lies ahead.
We were also thrilled to welcome so many families into school for our Open Afternoon. The hallways were filled with warmth, conversation, and admiration for some of the beautiful artwork proudly displayed by our pupils. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we hope you enjoyed sampling the delicious taster menu from our school lunch offerings, lovingly prepared by our kitchen team.
Moments like these remind us of the joy that comes from learning, sharing, and growing together as a community.
