This resource is under construction with updates to help educators in supporting students with diverse needs across Alabama!
This resource provides typical accommodations/supplementary aids or services (not an exhaustive list) a student may require to access the tasks, activities, assignments, or assessments in the school environment. If the student needs the accommodation it must be annotated in the student's IEP accordingly, and this symbol 🪜is a reminder to be sure to do that in the list below.
If the listed accommodation/supplementary aid or service has any of the assessment markers (⭕🔵🟢🟤🟠) the accommodation is available for the corresponding assessment as either an accessibility support or accommodation. Utilize the Testing Support Form for the student under the assessment type and subjects by which the student needs that support.
Two federal laws—the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA ’04)—mandate that educators use, to the greatest extent possible, evidence-based academic and behavioral practices and programs. Evidence-based strategies for this disability category are denoted by this 🏆symbol.
