The Green Beans walked,
United four,
Against the winds,
Through marsh and moor,
They walked through Spring,
Through Summer and Autumn,
And through Winter,
Though their step didn't falter.
They walked for weeks,
For months,
For years,
Until the smallest burst into tears.
Through his sobs,
At last he said,
'Alas, I think our quest is dead',
'Nonsense!' cried the loudest and oldest,
He was the surest, bravest, boldest.
'We must keep on!',
He told the rest,
'Through thick and thin,
Keep on is best!'
So the friends continued on,
Their spirits low,
But not for long.
Soon they found the perfect place,
Beautiful, with plenty of space.
And in its midst,
The tallest tree,
Whose branches were heavy,
With large blue beans.
'This is it!',
The friends cried in sync,
And from that day on,
They became the Blue Beans.
Though their names are now lost,
Their tale is not,
They founded our town,
We haven't forgot.
