Mr. Eric Olmos, Director of Bands
Mr. Olmos is in his 5th year of teaching. A native Houstonian, Mr. Olmos received a dual bachelor's degree in Clarinet Performance and Music Eduction from the University of North Texas. While at UNT, he performed with Symphonic Band, the Grammy-nominated Wind Symphony, the Concert Orchestra, and various chamber ensembles. He has extensice experience as a private lesson instructor, working with students from 6th through 12th grade.
Mr. Olmos is the conductor of the Lewis Honors Band, assists with the Symphonic and Concert Bands, as well as all beginners, with focus on
Oboe,Clarinet, Tuba, and Saxophone.
Mr. Olmos is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Outside of the Lewis Bands, Mr. Olmos likes to spend time with his wife and two boys. He likes to play video games, do woodworking projects and likes to grill.

Mrs. Mayra Salinas, Assistant Band Director
Mrs. Salinas comes to the Lewis Middle School faculty from Conroe ISD, where she spent four years as the Director of Music at Armstrong Elementary. She is a 2014 graduate of Sam Houston State University where she studied music pedagogy under Dr. Matthew McInturf, and Flute with Dr. Kathy Daniel. Now, she is in her 12th year of teaching.
In addition, she is a product of Aldine ISD, an alumna of Aldine Middle School and Nimitz High School where she also was a student of Mr. Jeff Tienor.
Mrs. Salinas is in her 8th year at Lewis and is the conductor of the Symphonic Band and will oversee the Beginner program at Lewis, with focus on Flute, French Horn, and Baritone. She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Outside of the Lewis Bands, Mrs. Salinas enjoys spending time with her husband, Jonathan and her son, Joshua.

Mr. Cristian Lara, Assistant Band Director
Mr. Lara is now in his 6th year of teaching. He did his undergraduate at Univertsity of Texas at Austin in 2020 where he studied music pedagogy under Dr. Burritt and Tony Edwards. He received his Masters from Sam Houston State University where he studied Band Studies under Dr. Matthew McInturf, Brian Gibbs, and Darla McBride. He was the Director of Bands in HISD at Whealty High School for 4 years where he taught marching band, concert band, and jazz band.
In addition, he is a product of Aldine ISD, an alumnus of MacArthur High School between 2012-2016.
He is the conductor of the Concert Band, assistant to the Honor and Symphonic Bands and in the beginner program, with focus on Percussion, trumpet, and saxophone. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Outside of the Lewis Bands, Mr. Lara enjoys training, boxing, and traveling around the world.
