SIX MONTHS. TWELVE BOOKS. ONE FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE.

Get ready for the Battle of the Books, part book club and part team competition for all Alden students! Each team reads a total of 12 books over a six-month period and then meet as grade-level groups to quiz their reading comprehension in a “Final Battle” in the spring. All students are encouraged to participate in this fun, team-building experience!

TEAMS. Teams of students in the same grade meets periodically over a six month period to discuss the books in meetings organized by their Team Leader.

BOOKS. Each grade reads 12 different books. Every team decides how they will cover each book. Some teams read all the books while some teams choose to breakout the responsibility for the books by assigning specific books to a few students. The books are available to borrow from the Alden School Library and the Duxbury Free Library.

TEAM LEADERS. Team leaders facilitate the book discussions. Meetings can be held at the Duxbury Library after school or on the weekend, at a team leader's house or online via video conferencing. The meeting location and schedule us all up to you and your team. The Battle of the Books Team Leader Resource has detailed information and materials to help you. You do not need to create your own materials. Review questions and ideas for activities are provided. Please sign up to be a team leader when you register.
