While what is recognized at graduation may vary from year to year, the below are accomplishments that are consistently recognized at graduation.
Instead of recognizing the top 10% of the student population, Alcona High School recognizes its graduating seniors using the Latin Honors System. These are as follows:
Summa Cum Laude: 3.9 - 4.0
Magna Cum Laude: 3.7 - 3.89
Cum Laude: 3.5 - 3.69
Certificates, MTA stamp agreement, and/or Associates Degrees
Class rank is determined purely on GPA to the third decimal point. There are no tie-breakers. In the event that there is more than one valedictorian, there will be no salutatorian.
Alcona values our graduates who are prepared to serve our country. We recognize those graduates who have completed their enrollment process with any Armed Service Branch and are ready to go on to their military training upon graduation.
