Google Certification

The Alcoa City Schools Board of Education has approved providing a stipend of $375 for all teachers, paraprofessionals, and all other non-certified personnel with the exception of custodians, maintenance employees, and cafeteria staffs, who earn their Google Certification 1, and $350 for Google Certification 2. The first part of our 4-year technology plan is approved!

The way this will work is that if you take and pass either exam this year, the stipend will be part of your contract for the 17-18 school year; much like we have done in the past with our sick leave bonus. Custodians, maintenance employees, and cafeteria staffs will still be eligible for the sick leave bonus. Teachers, paraprofessionals, and all other non-certified personnel, except those previously mentioned, will not be eligible for the sick leave bonus for this current year.

In order to receive the Google Certified Educator status, you will need to pass the corresponding Level 1 or Level 2 exams. These exams are mostly performance based exams that test you on your ability to use Google for Education tools in a classroom setting. After registering for an exam and receiving your test exam credentials, you will have 7 days to take the exam. After 7 days, your exam expires. Test takers have 3 hours to complete the exam. The exams covers all aspects of Google Apps including Gmail.
