Grading Philosophy:
To remain fair in my grading practices and to ensure high expectations, I use the Criterion-Referenced Grading System. The scale does not change regardless of the quality, or lack thereof, of the students’ work. For example, An “A” (Excellent) would need to not only meet but far surpass every criterion and expectation laid out for a given assignment. A “C” (Average) would merely meet the criteria and expectations of the assignment. It is not an “effort-based” grading system but instead fairly assesses the work the student turns in.
