Game Requirements:
2 Players.
Each player must have a deck of 15 random cards (3 copies max of any named card).
Player must have one Boss Card.
Boss and all cards in a deck must be the same Habitat (same background colour).
Other accessories needed = Playmat, and Six-sided Dice (used to track Boss Health.
Playing:
Start Phase:
The turn player ‘wakes up’ any resting animals in their zones (turn any that are turned sideways so they are upright).
The turn Player draws cards from their deck until they have 5 cards in their hand or if they have 5 cards.
Prepare Phase:
Turn player can place animals from their hand into their three animal zones. The total ‘Endanger Level’ of animals in the three animal zones cannot exceed 6.
Existing animals in the animal zones can be replaced with new ones. Any replaced animal goes to the discard zone.
You can swap/move animals in your animal zones to different animal zones.
The boss zone is not an animal zone.
Some abilities of animals can be used during the setup phase. The list of Abilities and how they work is found later on this page.
Battle Phase:
Once the turn player has done all they wished to in the Setup Phase, they declare they are starting their Battle Phase.
Some abilities of animals can be used during the Battle Phase. The list of Abilities and how they work is found below.
The turn players animals can attack the opponent’s animals.
To attack another animal, the attacking animal must be ‘rested’ (turned sideways) and the player must declare the attack target.
The attack can target any of the opponent’s animals in their three animal zones, and can target their Boss Animal, but only if there is no animal ‘blocking’ the Boss, by occupying their central animal zone.
Likewise, a turn player’s Boss cannot attack if the turn player has an animal in their centre animal zone.
Attacking a Boss Animal:
If the opponent has no animal in the central animal zone, the turn player can choose to attack their Boss.
As with regular animals, the power must equal or exceed the boss’s power in order for the attack to be successful. So simply rest the attacking animal and declare the boss as the target of the attack just like with the previous attacking rules.
The result of the attack does not defeat the Boss, instead the Boss takes a damage for each successful attack, decreasing its HP by 1 point.
When a Boss has no HP remaining, the Boss is defeated, and the player who defeated it wins the game.
Team Up attacking:
Multiple animals can attack together, rather than individually.
This results in the powers of the animals being added together for the attack.
This means that weaker animals, who alone could not defeat an opponent’s animal or damage their Boss, can do if their total power is equal or greater than that of the target.
E.g. a 3000 power animal + a 2000 power animal can defeat a 4000 or 5000 power opponent’s animal.
Abilities Explained:
Block – During your opponents Battle Phase, if your Centre Animal Zone is/becomes unoccupied, you may move your animal with the Block ability to the Centre Animal Zone. The Block ability can only be used:
At the very start of the battle phase (before an attack is declared)
Immediately after an animal in your centre has been removed from your centre animal zone.
Forage – When the animal is placed in an animal zone, the player who placed it draws 2 cards from their deck.
Hunt – During your setup phase, you may rest the animal with the Hunt ability, and immediately defeat an opponent’s animal in an animal zone that has an endanger level of 2 or less.
Stealth – During your Battle Phase, rest the animal with the Stealth ability and declare you are using the ability (not attacking); deal 1 damage to the opponent’s Boss (even if it is currently being blocked).
Charge – During your Battle Phase, if the animal with the charge ability attacks and feats an opponents’ animal; deal 1 damage to the opponent’s Boss (even if it is currently being blocked). Also applied if the animal with Charge ability did the defeat during a Team-Up attack.
Breach/Flight/Flee – All do the same thing. If the animal with this ability would be placed in the discard zone from the animal zone (e.g. when defeated or replaced), you may choose to put the card into your hand instead of the discard.
