We will be learning mathematical concepts, but also life skills. The math we learn in class is content that can be used in the world around us. Let's come to class prepared to learn, prepared to have fun, and prepared to make lasting memories.
Hello! My name is Noah Vawter. I am a second-year teacher at Alburnett this year. I grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School in 2018. I then continued my education at Kirkwood Community College to acquire my AA, then transferred to Mount Mercy University to get my Bachelors of Science (BS), graduating in 2021. I am a Junior High Football coach here at Alburnett as well as a track coach at Jefferson High School.
I became a math teacher because I want to make an impact in this world. Being a positive and influential mentor to the next generation is vital in our world's success. I know a lot of people don't like math, but I want to change that stigma into something new. I want people to see math in the world around them. I want my students to enjoy coming to class to think critically, problem solve, and understand things in multiple perspectives. Math might not be easy, but it can be fun. It is my job to make it fun, exciting, and understandable for all. I want students to learn math, but also feel safe, confident, valued, and loved in my classroom. You will find these through my strategies of student-centered learning, collaborative problem solving, and reassurance that mistakes are okay, because that's the strongest way to learn.
