Guidelines for retakes include the following:
- Students will be provided the opportunity to be reassessed (i.e., retakes and homework).
- Generally, reassessments will be limited to one retake per assessment. Additional reassessments will be provided at the discretion of the Mr. Arment.
- DEADLINE TO RETAKE is 2 weeks from original date
- All of the following requirements must be met in order to be eligible to retake an assessment. The retake grade will replace the original grade.
- I completed all of the assigned homework prior to the first assessment.
- I have completed all of the in-class activities, work, and notes.
- I attended Pirate Time to prepare for the reassessment.
- I have completed the additional homework to review the assessment topics.
- I watched a relevant video on the assessment topic from YouTube, or class website, AND took thorough notes on it.
- Record video title and web address
- I have scheduled a time, date, and place for retaking the
- What will you do differently before future assessments to help ensure that you will be more successful the first time?
Homework / Independent Practice
- Homework is an opportunity for students to practice skills, apply knowledge, review and build on past learning, and extend learning.
- Homework is individualized and based on each student’s progress towards established standards.
- The purpose of the assignment will determine whether or not a grade is given and will be clearly articulated to students.
- Feedback on homework is often provided to students during class.
Example: There are four main purposes for independent learning tasks in this course:
- Purpose 1: Building fluency;
- Purpose 2: Applying knowledge;
- Purpose 3: Reviewing and practicing past learning; and
- Purpose 4: Extending learning across topics and disciplines.
- The purpose of an assignment will determine whether or not a grade is given.
- Independent practice/classwork shall be individualized and based on each student’s progress towards established standards.
Extra Credit and Bonus Points
To ensure that grades reflect progress toward and achievement of the standards, giving extra credit points or bonus points will not occur in this class.
The vision of the Alburnett CSD is that behavior will be reported separately from academic achievement.
Behavior expectations for this course:
- Students will respect themselves and others in the classroom.
- Respect the equipment and tools in the classroom.
- Absences: You are responsible for getting and completing the work you missed. Therefore you are responsible to look in your appropriate classes folder to see if you have anything to make-up.
