About Me
Welcome! My name is Andrea Haworth and I am in my second year of teaching at Alburnett High School. I will be teaching 10th grade biology and 11th/12th grade environmental science.
I grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School where I was an active member in the band (flute/piccolo), Academic Decathlon, and the track team. I graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Genetics. During my time at Iowa State I served as president of the Mountaineering and Climbing Club and worked in a variety of labs as an undergraduate research scientist. Two of my favorite experiences were studying abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand and attending a Global Leadership Seminar in Salzburg, Austria.
I attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota where I received my PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics. It was during this time that I fell in love with teaching!
During my free time I love to read, garden, do pilates, travel, and have adventures! I'm looking forward to another year at Alburnett. Go Pirates!!
