3-on-3 Basketball Tournament 

When - Saturday, March 9th, 2024.  First games will tip-off at 1:00 pm


Where - Albion High School Gym 


Who  - Anyone between 5th grade and 12th grade 

Cost - $20.00 per player

3-on-3 March Mania Basketball Rules:


1. All players must be registered to play 


2. Registration fee will be $20 per player. 


3. A team will consist of 3 players on the court and no more than 4 players on the roster. A game may be started and continued with a minimum of two players. 


4. Teams should arrive to court 10 minutes before the posted start time of their game. Teams will only be given a 2 minute grace period after their posted start time to have the minimum number of players required to begin. Once the grace period expires, the game will be declared a forfeit. a. Note that playoff seeds will be based on a points system. Forfeiting a game will result in your team losing points. 


5. All individuals participating in 3 on 3 basketball must wear a shirt (or pinney) of the same color. Team is responsible for providing shirts or pinnies. All participants must wear sneakers. No hats or jewelry are allowed. 


6. Games are 10 minutes in length. 


7. Substitutions may be made after a basket or any stoppage of play. 


8. Master Timing. There is one clock for all courts. All courts will start on the supervisor’s master whistle, which will start the master clock. 


9. The clock does not stop and there are no timeouts permitted. There will be a 3- minute break between each game. 


10. The game is a half court game with normal boundaries plus the mid court line defining the playing area. 


11. The three second free throw lane rule will apply to all offensive players. 


12. A coin flip or rock, paper, scissors prior to the game will determine first possession of the ball. 


13. Defense gets possession after a score (no make-it-take-it). 


14. On a change of possession, steal, rebound, etc., the defensive team must take the ball outside the 3-point arc to establish itself as the offense. Even on an air ball, the defense must take the ball outside the arc. 


15. Alternating possession on all jump ball situations will be in effect. 


16. After a score, foul, or out of bounds the offense will begin possession at the top of the key.


17. The offensive team must “pass the ball in” before a shot is attempted (make one pass before a shot is taken) 


18. There will be one official and one scorekeeper on each game. Players will not foul out of a contest. However, after the tenth team foul the opposing team will be awarded ONE point and possession. The Albion Coaching Staff may disqualify a player guilty of excessive, flagrant or intentional fouling. 


19. All TECHNICAL and INTENTIONAL fouls will result in one point and possession for the opposing team (Ejection of player may follow) 


20. There are no free throws in 3 on 3 basketball. The offended team gets possession of the ball at the top of the key. Baskets count two points or three points. For a three point try, the shooter must establish position completely outside the three-point arc during the shot. 


21. If the game ends in a tie after regulation time, there will be a two minute overtime period. Possession will be determined by a coin toss. Ties at the end of any overtime period will result in a one minute sudden death until the tie has been broken. Possession will be determined by a coin flip. 


22. Slow Play: There will be no shot clock. However, it is a violation to "stall" or attempt to "freeze" the ball during play. Teams are expected to develop their own pace of play and maintain this throughout the contest. Holding the ball or stalling will result in a turnover to the opposition. 


23. Any disputed discussions based on rules (not judgment) will be solved by the AHS Basketball Coaching Staff. 


24. Badgering Officials will result in immediate game disqualification. A WARNING IS NOT NECESSARY. 


25. If teams are mixed grades, the team must play at the highest grade level.
