You will need to be at school by 8:45am to have time to go to your locker and get to class for a lesson that starts at 9am sharp. You will need to be sitting at your desk with all your equipment ready to learn. The first 15 minutes is the most important part of the lesson.
Did you know, we have no school bells! You will need a watch to help you get to class on time.
💡Get a wrist watch over the summer
Being organised sets you up for success. Make sure you pack your bag each night with the following:
A fully charged iPad with Apple Pencil
Exercise books for English, Maths, Science, Humanities, French and some electives. Make sure your name and subject are on the cover
A pencil case with pens, coloured pencils, erasers, highlighters, and a ruler
A calculator
A small umbrella that lives in your bag
💡Over the holidays you might like to cover your books and create a title page for each of your workbooks. Plus don't forget to put your name on your iPad, Apple Pencil, calculator and pencil case.
At APC we have great teachers who care about you!
You will have a different teacher for each subject. Your teachers are here to support your success.
To contact your teachers about homework, assessment or questions about your subject you can speak to them in class or your can email them via Gmail app. You can see your teachers names on Compass.
The APC Portal is where you will find the curriculum for every subject and every year level. The Portal is designed to support your learning and homework.
💡 Take time to explore the Portal and what you will learn for each of your subjects in Year 7.
For each subject, you will complete a range of different assessment tasks such as, practical experiments, speeches, debates, investigations, essays, design tasks and tests.
In Google Classroom, you will be able to read details of each assessment, submit your work and review feedback from your teacher. You will be graded on an A to E scale.
You will be able to view the assessment deadlines on Google Classroom and in Google Calendar.
As a Year 7 student you will complete approximately one hour of homework per week for English, Maths, Science, Humanities and French. To help with your organisation, you will need to record your homework in Google Tasks.
You can attend Homework Club on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, from 3:10 - 4:30pm in the Library at Danks Street, for collaborative peer study.
💡Make sure you read your English novels over the summer. Start by reading one chapter per day.
