Ms. Amanda Brandon is in her 5th year of teaching choral music and is the assistant director at Albertville High School. Prior to her time at Albertville, she taught middle school show choir at Pearl River Central Middle School in South Mississippi. Amanda is a native to the small community of Carriere, Mississippi. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Theory and Composition both from The University of Southern Mississippi. During Ms. Brandon’s time at USM she was a member of several choral ensembles including Women’s Choir, Concert Choir, and The Southern Chorale. While a member of these ensembles, she had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City, New York, and premiere a major work by an Estonian composer, Tonu Korvits, in Portland, Oregon at the National Collegiate Choral Organization’s National Conference. In addition to directing her own choral ensembles, Amanda has served as a consultant to many South Mississippi show choirs. Ms. Brandon strives to create a classroom where students can not only grow as musicians but also grow in their confidence and love of music. She is super excited to be an Aggie and cannot wait to make music and build connections with her students!
Ms. Miriam Howell is a first year teacher and choir director in her career and at Albertville Middle School. She is originally from Picayune, MS where she began her love of singing, choir, and show choir. She recently graduated in December of 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Choral Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. During her time at USM, Ms. Howell was involved in Concert Choir and the Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company. With these ensembles, she was afforded the opportunity to perform regionally with Concert Choir and in large productions such as Turandot, Elixir of Love, and various musical revues with the Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company. Ms. Howell has studied private piano and classical voice for over 10 years and hopes to bring her in depth knowledge to her students in the classroom. Ms. Howell is looking forward to being an Aggie, having an amazing year with her new students, and she cannot wait to bring the joy of choral music to Albertville Middle School!
