SAO Closet - This is where SAO keeps all of it's programming materials. Head towards Office 101E, and go down the little hallway with the recycling bins. Walking into that back room a little, across from the big open doors on the left, is a metal, brown door by bikes hanging from the wall. This is the SAO closet! You may need the P-key to open it, but most of the time it is unlocked.
CSE Banner Room - This is the room through the CSE's kitchen doors, to the right of the CSE entrance. It is in this room that Orientation, NDAC, Sustainability, First Gen, and others store their programming materials. This is where you can find all signage materials, like sandwich boards and signicades.
Arctic Java - Many of SAO's weekly programs take place in Arctic Java, the coffee shop in the Wood Center. It is located downstairs from Dine 49, or around the corner from the CSE (up the ramp). Hint: you can also get to Arctic Java by going through the double doors in the back room where the SAO closet is located. You will pass all of Chartwells' fridges, freezers, and locker rooms.
Multi-Level Lounge (MLL) - This is the area of the Wood Center that the long, shallow, carpeted stairs lead to. This is where all those tables, sofas, and booths are located. SAO often hosts larger events here, like movie nights, bingo, and murder mysteries.
Wood Center Mall - This is the foyer of the Wood Center, right inside the main doors. This is the center of the Wood Center, and SAO often tables in this area to promote events and Traditions.
The Free Store and Upcycle Annex - This is a little thrift store and craft supply run by Sustainability. They are located on the left hand side, down the stairs next to the ramp leading to Arctic Java, under the stairs heading up to Dine 49.
The Dungeon - This is the area through the emergency exit doors down the stairs leading to the Free Store and Upcycle Annex. You need a P-key to deactivate the alarm. This is where much of the larger program supplies are kept, like tents, fire pits, and boxes of decorations.
Stairs to Nowhere - This is the tall staircase that leads to the second floor of the Wood Center, as well as a little overlook higher up. It is located in the middle of the Mall.
Esports Center and Games Area- These places are located next to the front desk, under the Stairs to Nowhere. This includes the Esports Arena, bowling alley, and games area.
ASUAF Office - This office is also located under the Stairs to Nowhere, next to the bowling alley and games area. This is where the UAF student government operates from. Tip: they provide free printing!
The Pub - This is the part of the Wood Center that you can only enter if you are 21+. It is located in between the MLL and the games area, down a little hallway to the right of the games area. The entrance is on the left hand side. The doors at the end of the hallway lead to the back entrance of Constitution Hall, where the bookstore and mail center are located.
Prevention and Wellness Office - Located in the same hallway as the Pub, the Prevention and Wellness Office is located on the right hand side.
Ballroom - Located up and to the left from the Stairs to Nowhere, the Ballroom is where larger events are held.
The Loading Dock - Head to the SAO closet, then go through the double doors across from the closet. Follow that hallway until you reach doors on your left and right. The one on the left leads to Arctic Java, and the one on the right leads to the Loading Dock. It's a big room with garage doors on the left and boxes, crates, and pallets on the right.
The Trash Room - Located in the Loading Dock room, the trash room is the door furthest from the Loading Dock entrance, next to the cardboard crusher (big yellow machine). DO NOT LET THE TRASH ROOM DOOR CLOSE WHILE YOU ARE IN THE ROOM, IT WILL LOCK YOU IN.
Most locations at UAF are available to reserve in 25Live. To reserve a space, click this link ( https://25live.collegenet.com/pro/uaf#!/home/dash ), log in, and click "Create and Event". You can reserve locations in the Wood Center, classrooms, and some MBS spaces through 25Live. Other spaces, like the Davis Concert Hall and Regents' Great Hall require you to contact that building's coordinator.
These are the keys that unlock just about every door in the Wood Center. They open office doors and deactivate the emergency exit alarms on certain doors. The SAO P-key is on a blue lanyard with a large pineapple keychain. This should be stored in the SAO office at all times, unless you are actively using it. Every Pro Staff member (and the person working the Front Desk) has a P-key, so if you're locked out of the office, ask either a member of the Pro Staff or the person at the Front Desk to open it.
Every Pro Staff member has a Pro Card, which is a university credit card used for purchases for university matters. This includes program supplies, office supplies, food/snacks for students, etc. Clubs and Organizations are also able to check out Pro Cards to buy things. Pro Card check out is usually done by the SLI coordinator.
Ask a Pro Staff Member to help you set up printing on your computer! It can be tricky, so don't be afraid to ask for help!
The laundry room is located by the bathrooms near the ballroom, by the set of doors leading to the patio.
Retrieve the purple carabiner from the room behind the Front Desk.
The Front Desk also has Tide Pods and dryer sheets if needed.
WASHING
Load in the detergent, then the materials you're washing into the tub.
Choose your cycle info (load size, water heat, etc) and close the door.
Using the silver cylindrical key, open the top small panel on the right hand side of the washer.
When you're ready to start washing, flick the switch towards you.
The wash cycle takes 30 minutes.
DRYING
Load the materials you're drying into the dryer and close the door.
Open the money drawer using the other silver key and take out 8 quarters.
MAKE SURE TO COMPLETELY CLOSE THE MONEY DRAWER! They can be kind of tricky, so take extra care to make sure they are properly closed.
Follow the instructions written on the dryer.
The dryer cycle is about 1 hour.
