Ongoing: K-12 Lesson Plan Development
In partnership with Dr. Jessica Glass's lab, researchers are developing eDNA lesson plans and education kits that Alaskan schools and families can check out. Lessons are intended to expose students to both field and laboratory work, data collection techniques, and basic data visualization methods. The interactive lab activities will be designed so teachers and parents can tailor the activities to the age of the child (or adult!).

In partnership with Dr. Jessica Glass's lab, eDNA researchers provided guided marine biology students at Hutchinson High School through interactive lessons about the applications of eDNA in February 2022. There may or may not have been glitter, donuts and sprinkles involved!High School Ed.

2022 Arctic Research Open House
Hosted by the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, the Arctic Research Open House is an annual event for adults and kids alike to interact with UAF researchers and learn more about ongoing projects throughout the state. In 2022, our team hosted an interactive environmental DNA activity that was quite the hit - glitter and all! Over 400 curious members of the public were in attendance. 2022 Arctic Research Open House
