I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, has been listed as one of the regions most severely affected by future climate change. In recent years, urban flooding has become a widespread phenomenon and a major source of concern in HCMC, which has coincided with the city's rapid growth.
Floods are caused by heavy rains and lack of sufficient water storage space. This situation will worsen when rains become more intense as a result of climate change. And this leaves a lot of consequences to people's life in the city as well as the country. People are still looking for a better solution to this problem. In 2019, several months before I immigrated to the U.S, they improved the infrastructure around the city which has partially solved the problem.
