We are a group of ecologists, fire managers, land planners, policy experts, and public engagement specialists living or working in the far northwestern region of North America from diverse knowledge systems and career stages. Our lives in Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Northern British Columbia are increasingly influenced by wildfire in a changing climate. We are excited by the idea that fuel breaks could serve not only to reduce wildfire risk in our communities, but also provide spaces for food, medicine, recreation and education.
