To cultivate a vibrant and supportive classroom community, we collaboratively developed a 5th Grade contract with our students. This contract will clearly define the respectful and responsible behaviors we expect from one another, helping us create an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.
We are need your support to inspire and motivate our 5th Grade students to exemplify outstanding behavior and become positive role models this year. We have an exciting lineup of activities and events planned, and to make these experiences enjoyable and enriching for everyone, it’s vital that our students commit to the expectations set forth in our behavior contract. Together, we can create a fun and respectful learning environment!
This year, in 5th grade, we're excited to help students monitor their behavior with Class Dojo! Students will have the opportunity to earn Dojo points during the day by following directions, staying focused, and exhibiting positive behavior. To encourage responsibility, points may be deducted at times for not adhering to our classroom contract, accompanied by a note. Students can look forward to using their earned points to purchase a variety of coupons and items from the classroom store, making this a fun and engaging way to reward responsible behavior and encourage good choices! Connect to Class Dojo to stay up to date on your student's behavior, important notifications and events, and more!
We kindly ask you to be on the lookout for your student's Communication Folder. This important folder will accompany them from class to class and will include graded assignments, flyers for school events, schedules, calendars, newsletters, and much more! It is essential for your child to bring their folder home and back to school every day. By working together, we can instill a sense of responsibility in our students that will benefit them throughout their academic journey and beyond. Thank you for your support in this vital learning process!
Students will NOT receive homework assignments. However, if a student fails to complete class work or needs extra support, they may be given tasks to complete at home. This policy is designed to ensure that students have ample time to connect with their families, engage in extracurricular activities, and rest, allowing them to return to school refreshed and fully prepared to learn.
Students will have designated breaks throughout the day for restroom use, promoting a structured and respectful classroom environment. If a student needs to use the restroom during class time, they will need to sign out and sign in. This system encourages responsible use of restroom breaks.
