Desert Star Elementary

2021-2022 School Year

A Message from Principal Kaye

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already in the second nine weeks of school and the holidays are rapidly approaching! The year is flying by and the learning is reaching astronomical levels!

At Desert Star, students learn from bell to bell each day (8:00 - 3:00), and it is more important than ever that your child arrives at school on time. Just yesterday, we had over 50 students arrive between 8:00 and 9:30! What this means is those 50+ students most likely missed out on guided reading and intervention time - which are the most important parts of their day! Even if your child is high-achieving, perhaps he or she did not understand yesterday's learning, and the teacher has plans for an intervention to ensure that he or she masters the content the next day. Students simply cannot afford to lose a minute of instructional time. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:00 each morning and classes begin promptly at 8:00. Please, help make a difference in your child's education, and make sure that he or she arrives here every day before 8:00, ready to learn.

Together we will launch our Desert Star Cheetahs into the galaxy and beyond!

Yours in Education,

Principal Kaye
