The Lightning Thief is a dynamic musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling book and first opened on Broadway in 2019. When teenager Percy Jackson discovers he’s a demigod, he and his friends embark on an epic journey to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt and prevent a war among the gods. Rick Riordan wrote the series as a love letter to his neurodivergent son. The fact that the main character is ADHD, Dyslexic, and Neurodiverse enhances the storyline. Representation matters and heroes come in all forms, colors, genders, and abilities.
Cast list will be announced via email, Instagram, Google Classroom and our website within 24 hours after auditions have been completed. If a student is not cast, they are invited and encouraged to audition for the next available opportunity. There also is the potential for other jobs within the production such as crew (let the director know if you are interested in this). And keep trying!
Here's what some of our audience members had to say:
"The students did a great job and we truly enjoyed the show -- the singing , the costumes, the band, the fight scenes, all of it!"
"WOW! I thought it was a great show! The mics and sound system worked really well and the entire ensemble cast was GREAT. Really good voices, and well-cast! I liked that this show was teenagers playing teenagers."
"The live music was AMAZING! Don't think I've ever seen a high school production with its own rock band...A triumph!"
"Every person involved should be proud of what they collectively accomplished. The costumes, choreography, and stage sets were inventive and added so much to the narrative and audience engagement."
