Foreign Language Courses

ENGLISH I (ENGL 101): This course aims to help students to achieve an overall English Language proficiency of (Elementary) Basic User-defined as A2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The course is designed to improve the student’s use of English through engaging topics with authentic material. It focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and functions. There will be an increased focus on developing speaking and writing skills. There is also a balanced approach to topics, language development, and other skills.

ENGLISH II (ENGL102): ENGL102 is the continuation of ENGL101. This course aims to help students to achieve an overall English Language proficiency of (Elementary) Basic User-defined as A2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). WRITING SKILLS (ENGL 201): This course is designed to help students with a low-intermediate ability in English to write strong academic paragraphs. The course combines a process approach to writing with a pragmatic approach to teaching the basics of writing.

PUBLIC SPEAKING (ENGL 202): This course is designed to help students with a low-intermediate ability in English to speak. The course covers all the stages of presentations, presenting techniques; compositions, structure, and tips on how to deliver of a presentation.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH I (ENGL 107): The course is intended to accomplish its goal in one academic module through connecting critical thinking with language skills. The aim of the course is to strengthen students’ knowledge and awareness of academic discourse, language structures, and lexis. The main focus will be on the development of productive and receptive skills in academic settings.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH II (ENGL 108): The course is intended to accomplish its goal in one academic module as a continuation of ENGL 107 through connecting critical thinking with language skills. It supports standard phraseology and builds upon it to help them improve plain English in the skill areas specified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO): pronunciation, vocabulary, comprehension, interactions, fluency, and structure. The course covers a range of subjects associated with flying and the aviation industry.

LEGAL ENGLISH I (LENG317): LENG317 is an introductory Legal English course for learners who need to be able to use English for the study of the law and in the legal profession. Each lesson includes various types of authentic-text materials of the kind commonly encountered by law students and practising lawyers in their work. These texts, both written and spoken, are accompanied by a wide range of tasks, all designed to build the core skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Each lesson also contains exercises on vocabulary and language topics.
