Sustainable Cities and Communities

What is Sustainable Cities and Communities ?

Sustainable Development Goal 11 is about sustainable cities and communities and is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by UN.

The challenges cities face can be overcome in ways that allow them to continue to thrive and grow, while making proper use of resources and reducing pollution and poverty. The secured future includes cities of opportunities for all, with access to basic services, energy, housing, transportation and more.

How and Why have we chosen this SDG ?

We have chosen this goal because it is a SDG which is less focused among people .In addition, we are highly interested about this SDG. Another reason is that we have chosen this SDG because it is connected with the other SDGs and big idea. We have chosen this SDG using Parallel thinkers strategy and an online tool called jamboard.

What is the Importance of Sustainable cities and communities ?

Cities have significant potential in contributing to resource demand management (e.g., infrastructure, awareness). There are significant opportunities for jobs in cities so if our cities and communities are not sustainable the people will suffer and the world cant be sustainable
