Survey of Emerging Technologies

Required for graduation effective for Class 2025 and beyond
This course meets the District requirement for a Technology credit. In this class, students will learn practical applications of web-based software and apps used for communications, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. They will learn 21st Century skills for leading safe and productive lives in school, and at home, and that will serve as a foundation for learning in post-secondary education. The skills and knowledge learned in this course are commonly required workplace skills. Course is aligned with the ISTENets Standards. Consortium Model
The Bristol Bay Region Career & Technical Education program is a consortium of the four school districts within the Bristol Bay region. Bristol Bay Borough School District, Dillingham City School District, Lake & Peninsula School District, and Southwest Region School District work closely together to bring a quality career and technical education program to their students.

Consortium Model
A new consortium is being built among the Copper Rive School District, Delta Greely School District, and the Alaska Gateway School district to expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across the districts. Built in similar fashion as the BBRCTE model.

FNSBSD presents a well-developed document that outlines the IT courses available in the district that links IT occupations for entry level, technical, and professional careers related to the design, development, support, and management of hardware, software, multimedia, and systems integration services. Schools are encouraged ot develop Programs of Study based on the availability of courses. Certification options include CompTIA Network+ and Security+.

Lower Yukon School District has partnered with the ANSEP Acceleration Academy, offering an 8th grade to STEM BS degree in 5 years. Additionally, LYSD operates a Residential school in Anchorage called the Kusilvak Career Academy where students can take courses at King Tech High School and participate in the Information Tech program. Students also participate in various T3 Alaska (UAF) certification programs.
