CTLA was founded in the 1940s by CPS librarians. In 2018, CTLA became a chapter of AISLE.

All school librarians, whether or not part of CPS, are encouraged to join us for both professional development and social events. Our meetings offer PD hours, the option of virtual participation, and the chance to learn from and collaborate with peers.

Mission:

The Chicago Teacher Librarians Association (CTLA), a Chapter of the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE), is dedicated to the improvement of school library services in cooperation with related agencies and organizations.


Purpose:

  • To engage in a program of activities dedicated to the improvement of library services.
  • To extend the boundaries of professional knowledge and activities.
  • To provide inspiration and fellowship among librarians.
  • To network with related organizations, agencies, and businesses in a variety of meeting settings.
  • To share and distribute relevant information with fellow librarians.
