Grade 10 CASL

All Grade 10 students are strongly encouraged to engage in their community by participating in CASL afterschool clubs and activities during the school year so they practice and prepare for grade 11 & 12 CAS program:

A STUDENT "ON TRACK" you must have minimum:

TWO Creativity Experiences

TWO Activity Experiences

TWO Service Experiences or initiate ONE "long-term" service project

PLUS, one reflection at the beginning of the experience, one reflection mid-way, and one reflection after completion of experience AND minimum 2 pieces of evidence ( photos/videos/documents/creations) for each experience....in MANAGEBAC

TO BE "EXCELLING" you must have:

THREE- FIVE Creativity Experience

THREE- FIVE Activity Experience

THREE-FIVE Service Experiences OR initaite ONE "long-term" service project AND be involved in one additional service project (that someone else initiates)

PLUS, one reflection at the beginning of the experience, three to five reflections/evidence mid-way, and one reflection after completion of experience AND minimum 3 pieces of evidence (photos/video/document) for each experience....in MANAGEBAC

The ONLY way we know that you have completed the experiences and developed as a person in some way, shape, or form is via your CASL Portfolio in Managebac .

You will do this with reflection and evidence of participating and learning.

WHAT TO DO and HOW TO DO IT:

1. When you start an experience either for Creativity, Activity, or Service - ADD the experience on Managebac - Description, personal goal (WHY ARE YOU DOING IT? Should be meaningful TO YOU and only YOU and also you should be aiming to extend a current skill OR acquire new skills or challenges). Choose whether it is C, A, or S (or more than one).

Also, click on 1-2 LEARNING OUTCOMES that you want to try to develop in that experience.

2. Any time DURING experience AND AT THE END OF EXPERIENCE, REFLECT and provide minimum one piece of EVIDENCE that 1) you actually did this 2) what you learned / how you developed and grew as a person

REFLECTIONS: Use the following to help with reflection:

What: What did you do exactly?

So what? Who cares? Why does it matter at all to you (personal goal), to the world (giving back), to the learning outcomes (you chose to develop)

Now what? How can you use this new skill/knowledge in the future OR as a "next step"

AND/OR

The four F’s are:

Facts: An objective account of what happened
Feelings: The emotional reactions to the situation
Findings: The concrete learning that you can take away from the situation (focus on the LEARNING OUTCOMES if you can)
Future: Structuring your learning such that you can use it in the future

EVIDENCE: Examples of evidence, but not limited to this list. Be creative!

Photos with captions, Video clearly showing YOU doing what you say you have done or you working on the learning goals you have set
Video clearly showing YOU doing what you say you have done or you working on the learning goals you have set
flyers and/or posters you created
Any "product" you create throughout or at the end
Planning documents, or notes you take about experience
etc etc

Must be submitted In CASL Portfolio

Can be your SLC Google Site, but LINKED to Managebac
OR just directly entered into MANAGEBAC CAS page
