Science Databases

Access to open access journals is important for the advancement of scientific work from economically disadvantaged scientists, particularly those in developing countries. Many publications require a fee for the placement of articles, which puts scientists who are working for organizations with an economic disparity at a disadvantage. The establishment of peer-reviewed or juried open access journals gives authors the opportunity to publish in high quality journals thus advancing the scientific work from scientists from developing countries and also as a means of sharing these works with a global audience . As a result of many different projects, the number of open access journals has grown steadily and major UN organizations, universities, and other institutions are supporting open-access programs.

JSTOR is a digital library for the intellectually curious. They provide a platform for discovering and connecting research from academic journals, e-books, images, and primary sources. They feature a variety of subjects including art, business and economics, history, humanities, law, medicine, science, mathematics, and social sciences. Explore all their subjects here.

By combining scholarship and primary sources on one platform, JSTOR strengthens the depth and quality of research, sparks innovative connections, and generates unexpected discoveries.

BMC has an portfolio of some 300 peer-reviewed journals, sharing discoveries from research communities in science, technology, engineering and medicine. In 1999 we made high quality research open to everyone who needed to access it – and in making the open access model sustainable, we changed the world of academic publishing.

Our leading research journals include selective titles such as BMC Biology, BMC Medicine, Genome Biology and Genome Medicine, academic journals such as Journal of Hematology & Oncology, Malaria Journal and Microbiome, and the BMC series, 65 inclusive journals focused on the needs of individual research communities. We also partner with leading institutions and societies to publish journals on their behalf.
