Digital resources are a great way to continue reading and listening to e-books, audiobooks, and podcasts if you cannot access the AISJ physical library collection. Read on to discover great selections of middle school and high school e-books and audiobooks. 

Middle School E-Books

Riveted by Simon Teen is an online community for young adult readers from publisher Simon & Schuster. It offers several free full-length e-books and extended excerpts each month from a variety of genres.

Open Culture has over 800 free e-books and 1,000 audiobooks curated from online sources. The list includes works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, classic, and contemporary authors

Audiobooks

SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens from May-July. SYNC gives away two audiobook downloads a week, a pair of high interest titles which are related to a weekly theme. If you do not have time to listen now, you can download the books using the SORA app and listen later.

Are you a fan of science fiction? Mind Webs has recorded over 150 classic science fiction short stories into a radio dramatization format. Authors include Ursula K. Le Guin, Kurt Vonnegut, and H.G. Wells. 

Open Culture has over 1,000 audiobooks curated from online sources. The list includes works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and classic authors as well as works by contemporary persons such as Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, and Steve Jobs.

​JSTOR Daily is an online magazine that provides context and background to news stories and current affairs. It publishes short and long posts from journalists and academics, and all pieces link to journal articles on JSTOR for deeper reading.

Looking for the world's great literature classics? Project Gutenberg is a library of over 60,000 free eBooks that focuses on older works for which the U.S. copyright has expired. Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. 

Comic Book Plus gives readers free access to read and download Golden and Silver Age comic books.  It also contains a large selection of comic strips and pulp fiction. All content is published according to copyright and trademark laws.

This website gives free access to Shakespeare's plays and poetry that can be read online.
