The AISES logo combines symbols representing historic Native knowledge with modern portrayal. The “A” represents preservation of the traditional structure of the Indian family and cultural values. The round portion of the symbol portrays the sun’s rays striking a predetermined marker, like the Sun Dagger site in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, or the Pueblo at Casa Grande, Arizona, indicating the proper time to plant corn in the Spring. The discovery of these markers is heralded as one of many examples of scientific and engineering achievement of ancient Native peoples. The square represents a kernel of corn.
When the AISES logo is used alone, it should be sufficiently isolated from illustrations, photographs, copy, or images that might detract from the logo’s prominence. Contact communications@aises.org for questions about logo usage and if you need a different file format.
